Washington, DC – Today, at Del Sol High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, President Obama set the stage for passing long overdue comprehensive immigration reform. The proposal introduced by the President is based on border enforcement, a path to earned citizenship, and an improvement in our current immigration system.

The President also made clear that now is the time to act and stated that should Congress fail to move legislation on this issue, he will introduce the legislation and demand that Congress vote on the proposal. LULAC strongly supports the President’s action. In addition, LULAC will continue to support additional Visas for those that are currently waiting in line.

LULAC's "I Voted for Immigration Reform" Campaign sends a postcard to representatives to petition for comprehensive immigration reform.

“As the President unequivocally stated today the time for immigration reform is now, and LULAC will commit its vast grassroots and advocacy network to support President Obama’s efforts to bring fair and practical immigration reform to the 11 million undocumented people currently residing in the U.S,” said LULAC National President Margaret Moran.

“Immigration touches all Americans, whether their family came to this country 10 years ago or 100 years ago. The announcements of the last few days signals the beginning of an effort that will provide 11 million undocumented Americans with the chance the live the American dream as citizens of this great country.”

The unveiling of these upholds a truth that we have long known: now is the time for immigration reform! Join the call on Capitol Hill for their support on comprehensive immigration reform with LULAC's "I Voted for Immigration Reform" campaign. Fill out the form and LULAC will send your Members of Congress an "I Voted for Immigration Reform" postcard on your behalf!
