Prepare for ACTober:
This year’s advocacy visits with Members of Congress are scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 9:00am until 5:00pm. Referred to as “ACTober,” this year’s advocacy days will be an opportunity for advocates to meet with Congressional Members, Administration leadership and/or their staff to discuss LULAC’s policy priorities in the areas of immigration, health, education, and civil rights.

to prepare for these meetings, participants are invited to attend one of four policy/advocacy webinars to: 1.) learn basic advocacy principles for when you visit with Members of Congress; 2.) learn about LULAC National’s health, education, immigration, and civil rights policy priorities; and, 3.) help shape the messaging for our national advocacy visits.

Before the webinar, participants will receive fact sheets on LULAC’s policy priorities and top line messaging. The webinars provide an opportunity to ask questions regarding policy issues of interest. The content will remain the same during each webinar to ensure all interested participants are able to attend and ask questions.

Following the training webinars, the LULAC National Policy team will work to secure meetings with your Congressional representatives and/or their staff, as well as Administration officials and their staff. Paritcipants will receive a schedule and group assignment prior to traveling to Washington, D.C.
